it's really "Cross your I's and dot your T's"

Its a lyric from a song by katy perry - simple..try search for the lyric coz i think it's a really nice n deeply meaningful one..n what do you think this sentence actually means?

if you are Crossing your I's and dotting your T's, it means that you're (re)doing it wrong.

contractually speaking, (whence this phrase comes from), if the written text doesnt have ALL the T's crossed and I's dotted, then its incomplete! ie:: slop it or stop it ? WITHOUT the crossed T its ambiguous. makin the contract null and void! so katy perry is simply taking its obverse to make it a interesting lyric line
